How to apply passport online in India. Here is all about it.

There has been a practice that people are doing their daily activities via online since Covid-19 outbreak. Almost all the Government services are available online now. In India passports can also be applied via online. The Government has set up a passport seva portal in order to make it possible. After registering, all the required documents should be given to this portal while applying for a passport online. 

You must visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra or Regional Passport Office although you have registered it via online. The service is not fully online. Applying for a passport via an online portal which is made by the External affairs ministry is more easy and convenient. Let's check how to do this.

Prior to getting started make sure that you must possess all the valid documents with you. The document details that are required for applying for a passport are available online. After submitting the online application the applicant has to visit the passport seva kendra in 90 days with the copy of the online application. If they fail to visit the seva kendra, the applicant has to submit another application. 

How to Register 

1. Visit passport seva site and click on the register link.

2. Enter your details and opt for your nearby passport office. 

3. Enter captcha code after entering your personal information and press the register button. 

4. Login in to passport seva portal with your registered login id.

5 Click on apply for a new passport / reissue of passport as you want. If you don't have a valid Indian passport by far, apply for a new passport. 

6. Fill up the required documents on the form that appeared on the screen and press the submit  button.

7. Click on the pay and schedule appointment button. It is for your appointment schedule at passport seva kendra. In order to get the process completed, you need to make an online payment as well.

8. Take the print out of your payment receipt. 

9. You will be given one SMS regarding your appointment details. 

As per the information provided in the SMS, You have to visit the passport seva kendra / regional passport office. Make sure that you carry all of your original documents along with you when you visit the passport office. The SMS that you got can be shown in the passport office as a proof of online appointment. Otherwise carry the print out of the receipt with you.
